-------Boston---------

As you can see, I am not much of a blogger. I don't really know HOW to blog, and I am a little bit boring when I do so! Plus, I sometimes feel like there isn't anything worthy to blog about . These are the reasons why I have a total of 3 posts so far! So, to those who care to read, I apologize for not blogging frequently, and when I do-if they are boring :)

Update since July 27th- I started school @ Troy University getting my masters degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This keeps me pretty busy, and I have been required to read more than I ever thought possible.
Doug has gone to SERE school (for those who don't know, its *basically* a 3 week course that gives him training in the case that he ever gets captured while at war). We are not able to talk while he is gone, but he will be back in a couple weeks. We still have not heard word about his waiver for flight school, it may be another month or two. He would absolutely KILL me if he knew I was posting this picture of him, but he can't kill me right now-and I thought it was funny! He is such a goof!!

Since I have been on my lonesome, I decided to meet my friend Molly in Boston for a couple days. She is going to med school in Vermont, so it seemed like a good place to meet. We had a great time! We went out to eat at many tasty restaurants, ate a lot of desserts, visited Harvard Square, Chinatown/Little Italy, Museum of Natural History, toured the city, and did I mention eat good food??

Ok, this picture below has a story for it. *WARNING* a rather long story and possibly boring!!

We were sitting on a bench here watching kayaks, boats, and runners go by. It was a beautiful day and we were relaxing enjoying the weather in Boston. Well actually, Cambridge. Anyways, there was a group of scary guys that started a fight behind our bench. One guy had a tree branch, the other a bike lock (round bar). The tree branch dude kept screaming "HIT ME, JUST DO IT, HIT ME!" and we were a little scared a gruesome fight was about to occur so we moved to a nearby bench where we could still watch the fight without getting killed. The bike lock man (who we are about 95% sure he was homeless) never ended up hitting the tree branch guy so the fight soon ended and they all went on there way, we thought. A little while later, we saw this other man in pajamas and yellow shoes come out of no where and we looked back to see him throw a backpack and start punching the living daylights out of this bag on the ground. We thought "man, Boston has some people with MENTAL cases around here!! Why is he hitting that bag??" We ignored it and watched the yellow shoed man huss and fuss and eventually run away. We then heard a man whistle down some cops. We soon came to discover that this "bag" that the yellow shoed man was hitting was actually the bike lock homeless man from the previous fight. He was laying face down on the sidewalk, and was severely beaten. Luckily when Molly & I showed up (med student and nurse, the only people w/ any medical background) he was breathing, but couldn't move his legs. The cop wanted to roll him over but we advised him not to. The paramedics got there pretty quickly *thank goodness* and he was still unable to move. We were then interviewed by the police. We sure hope the poor homeless man is okay. We'll never know I guess. Long story! Crazy experience, one we will never forget I'm sure.

Summer Fun!

We have had a lot of fun these past couple of months (hence, no blog postings!) Doug is still waiting to see if he can get pushed through to start flight school. He put in a waiver July 10th and they said it should take at least a month, so we are waiting until at least August 10th! I have been working on my application to Troy University for their Family Nurse Practitioners program. I will turn it in soon and will also hope for good news!

In June we made a trip to Idaho for a family reunion. We had a great time. We were surprised when about half of the family got food poisoning at the reunion. I got it first, Doug didn't get it at all! We still haven't discovered what it was. Aside from that, we had a lot of fun spending time with family and friends. Sadly, I only took one picture, this is at Bear Lake.

July 18th I ran a 5k with my good friend Lorie Stockton. It was called a Critter Run in Dothan, AL. We were proud that we finished it without walking!

I also made a trip to Birmingham to go to the Temple. We traveled about 3.5 hours to find out that the temple was not open! There just so happened to be a temple worker there that was kind enough to give us a personal tour of the small temple. That made it worth the trip.

Doug & I also made a trip to Valdosta, GA where we met up with his brother and his family. We went to a theme park called Wild Adventures that had a lot of "regular" rides like roller coasters and also a water park. It was a lot of fun and we were very happy to spend time with family! By the way, I cannot upload these pictures upright for the life of me!

And last but not least, this wouldn't be the Foote's blog if we didn't post something about Doug's recent creature encounters. This is a picture of a spider he found in our backyard forest.

Squirrels, possums..and the beach!

Ok so we didn't see any squirrels or possums at the beach, but we have seen quite a bit of wildlife in our backyard. This may be due to the fact that Doug provides them with large amounts of delicious food!

He bought our backyard squirrels special corn for them to eat. He has even named his favorite squirrel Hector. Here he is:

As for the possums, yes we have them too. Dougs ultimate goal is to catch an armadillo, but possums will do for now. We have a trap that he stole from the neighbors, and so far he has caught two possums. He lets them go a couple miles from our house, hope they don't find their way back!

We also made it to the beach this past weekend. We went to Panama City, Florida with a few friends. The water was so warm! Much different than the water in Utah, although it was much saltier. We had a good time and hope to be able to return soon.

Hey ya'll, welcome to Fort Rucker Alabama!

Well I've caved and decided to start a blog! I promised some friends that I would start one when I had something interesting to blog about (i.e. kids, moving, etc.) so I'll stick with moving as a reason for now to keep friends and family updated as we live so far away.

We've been living in Fort Rucker for a couple of weeks now and have had a great time so far. Everyone has been very nice. We are living in a home on post and have been doing a lot of unpacking and fixing up the place.

We somewhat felt like we were living in a state hospital when we first moved in (white walls!) so we decided to paint. It looks a lot better and we had a lot of fun!

Finished living room after painting

The bugs and animals have also been very warm and made themselves welcome to our home! I wish I would have taken some good pictures of the milipede infestation we had. I was too grossed out to pull out the camera I suppose. They took over our backyard and at one point covered the hole wall so that it looked black. Everywhere we went they were following us around like little pets! Ugh. We still find about 10-15 a day crawling around on our floor, but the numbers decrease everyday. Our neighbors seem to have the same problem, except their young baby will pick them up and eat them! We have stocked up with Raid and had pest control come and spray around our house. Hope it works!

Well hope you enjoy the little update of our lives here in the good ol' south. I will hopefully figure out how to work this blog a little bit better in the future. Happy Mother's Day!
